Liron Kroll
I’m a London-based artist working across photography, moving image, animation, and immersive installation. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, my practice explores memory, identity, femininity, and photographic authenticity through the visual language of family photography. I reconstruct seemingly ordinary domestic moments into images untethered from a specific time or place, questioning photography’s relationship to memory, truth, and lived experience.
Having lived through the shift from analogue photography to digital and now virtual image-making, I draw on this personal timeline to question the authenticity of inherited photographs while navigating the digital spaces that will shape my children’s memories. Using photography, photomontage, digital painting, animation, augmented reality, and AI, I create nonlinear narratives that explore absence, femininity, and emotional displacement, inviting viewers into spaces between the familiar and the uncanny.
In recent years, my work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Saatchi Gallery, the Los Angeles Center of Photography, Photo London, the London Art Fair, Phillips Auction House, and the Cynthia Corbett Gallery. I was honoured to receive the Responsa Foundation Art Prize in 2024, to be selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2025, to be a finalist for the Young Masters Art Prize, and most recently to be shortlisted for the V&A Adobe Creative Residency.
My work in this exhibition, Between Waters, explores a liminal state between past and present, belonging and displacement, clarity and uncertainty. As an immigrant, I’ve spent the past seventeen years building a life in London, all of them living close to Hampstead Heath. The Heath has been a constant throughout that time, offering a sense of freedom and belonging while I found my place in a new country. It has become part of my family’s story and remains a lasting source of inspiration for my work.
